Sailing in the beautiful bay off Porto Santo Stefano, under Monte Argentario, a fleet of competitive classic yachts has fought another great Panerai regatta in testing conditions. In typical Argentario fashion the light breeze was variable and at times unpredictable, challenging the crews to the very end of each race.
Three classes were combined meaning that Skylark was racing against yachts of different design including the gaff-rigged yacht Chinook campaigned by racing veteran Graham Walker and Sirius, sailed by an America’s Cup crew. Despite the intense competition Skylark finished 3rd Overall – the highest placed yawl, beating Tomahawk, Stormy Weather, Manitou, Argyll and Comet. At the Panerai Prizegiving Skylark was awarded an engraved silver salver for her achievement.
