Excitement in Saint-Tropez

22 tons of priceless varnish with no brakes! That’s the heart-stopping feeling being at the helm of a large classic yacht and at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2014 helmsman’s nerves were put to the test when the classic yacht Rowdy barged into an already crowded startline. There was fortunately no damage but the resulting collisions ending in the protest room – the Jury confirming, after reviewing this footage, that Skylark was in the right.

Following a week of races Skylark ended the event 2nd Overall to her near sistership Dorade, which was testament to the dedication, concentration and hard effort contributed by all her crew. Had the wind been a little stronger there’s no doubt that Skylark would have won the event as the very light wind favoured her lighter (16t) narrower (3ft) counterpart.
