The Sparkman & Stephens designed 53ft yawl Skylark has won 1st Overall at Les Regates Royales 2013 with a series score of 2-1-1-1 beating Mark Faulkner’s Q Class Leonore and the S&S designed Manitou in this fiercely competitive event. The regatta week was fabulous – warm weather and breezes generally around 10 knots allowed Skylark to sail to her full potential. The crew this week were ably assisted by American superyacht designer Evan Marshall who trimmed the genoa upwind and ground the spinnaker winches downwind. After four races he quietly admitted to having been part of the design team on an America’s Cup yacht, so team Skylark benefited this week from his brains as well as his brawn!
